Project brief

Find two different and usually unrelated signifiers, and juxtapose them to create a visual relationship that communicates something about your cause. The juxtaposition must be as clear and surprising as possible. Both signifiers should remain recognizable in the end, adding up to tell a larger story. The execution method should add a layer of meaning to the work.

CONCEPT

The body and mind can create a strong dependency on consuming sugar. Sugar gives the body a rush of dopamine that will make people want to actively regain that good feeling one would get from eating a candy bar. I’ve combined signifiers of different sweet treats that initially appears fun and playful, but it is also contrasted with the more serious imagery of mental health and addiction.
