PROJECT BRIEF

Based on visual principles and anatomy of letter form and book design as a verbal and visual communication media, explore the expression of the identity of a famous person and their works using a range of communication forms based on a letter structure.

CONCEPT

Gabrielle is a typeface inspired by Coco Chanel. This typeface takes elements of her design features of her clothing line such as their boxy element and the curves and folds that occurs as it moves.

Chanel’s works

To begin the ideation of the typeface, I’ve studied the shape and behavior of classic Chanel designs. Her target audience is female to introduce menswear into women’s fashion. Her dresses has a straight, boxy silhouettes until the wearer gives the dress shape based on their movements.

Type anatomy

The overall typeface is inspired by the anatomy of a person from the shoulders down to emphasize the anatomy of the clothes Chanel has designed.
